Heads Up? "Calling from The Pharmacy...."

We have been plagued, recently (past 2 months or so), with calls roughly every other day, which sound like they are coming from India.

The caller always starts with, "Hello ma'am, how are you today."
Me: "Who is this, and what do you want?" (Because I already know, I am not usually so brash)
Caller: "We are calling from The Pharmacy re: your medication. Do you currently take any medication?"

And sometimes they'll randomly list off a medication, lately it's been Tramadol. They'll say, "We're calling about your Tramadol prescription..." ...and go on to tell me they're calling about Rx discounts, etc.

At this point I'm too familiar and upset to give them more than the repeated: "I am again formally telling you to stop phoning this number."

(It never works, they keep calling)

I question if this is some type of phishing thing over the phone to get people to divulge their meds to strangers or to get money or bank/insurance info?

I'm putting this out there as a "Beware" post because these guys are very persistent.

Is the number blocked ? The info below may not help with this, but it may help with other calls if needed. You can put 3 phone numbers in and your email address.

I have a Privacy thing through the phone company. It costs about $7 a month but it is more than worth it. I can turn it off and on. I have a few friends that have Private Numbers due to their jobs, and I can set up a bypass code for them. When someone calls and their number is blocked I have to give permission for them to get through.

The numbers are always private, unknown, or unlisted.

Most of my health care providers call from unknown or private numbers...they indicate as such on their intake forms (that as their patient, we must be able to receive calls from private numbers,....probably for their privacy and ease,....certainly not for ours).

I have no reason not answer the phone, but these crazy buggers are getting on my nerves. At least I can recognize them and just vent a sentence or two and hang up.

I know they're scamming, but wanted to put up a little warning in case any other members get this ridiculous calls and fall prey to this stuff. (It's alarming how many people do get scammed).

My number is listed in my maiden name for privacy reasons. So if anyone calls and asks to speak to that last name, I just hand up. Although, I very rarely answer the phone if I don't know the number. If it's important they will leave a message with a call back number.
