"The committee will discuss the safety and efficacy for new drug application 203077. MOXDUO (morphine sulfate and oxycodone hydrochloride) capsules, QRxPharma Inc., for the proposed indication of management of moderate to severe acute pain where the use of an opioid analgesic is appropriate. This product represents the first drug combination consisting of two immediate-release opioids."

I'm curious what others think about this only being for acute pain and not chronic pain. This is the second med I've seen in the past few weeks that is only for acute pain. It also seems that the extended release meds that were once used for chronic pain are now beginning to replace some of the meds for acute pain.

Mercy heres something I just remembered hearing and when I went to drugdigest I had remembered correctly.

Moxduo was also formulated in a CR formula at the begining but caught such a rainstorm over abuse potential they went back and reformulated it to include those beads that render it useless if broken therefore it cannot be snorted or broken down to inject.

This formulation is for CP and I cant tell from the article if they will be deciding on both the IR&CR or just the IR which is indicated soley for Acute pain and does Not contain the deterrant since it wouldnt work for a IR med.

Did you see something I didnt? Doesnt it seem they are only going to rule on the IR preparation? The CR which is noted specifically as a CP med and classified as a 12-24 hour dosing is set for release.

Vickie, you're correct. Somehow the "immediate-release" part didn't register in my brain. I sincerely apologize.
