The doctors says to me that I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome. But it is impossible that ibs has this symptoms, because I am in pain almost all the day, and I had tons of discomfort, I can only wake up to my bed with a tremendous willpower.


I must to insist them that I need more test, but I'm losing strength. Meanwhile my pain in the last 4 days has been a little bit low.

But I know that I must insist. I want to ask for a ct-scan, but doctors usually don't likes that you tell him what they should do.


In this days in Spain everything is on holydays.

Miguel,I hate that your stomach is hurting you like it is.

Here,you usually have to get your Doctor to send you for tests or to Specialists.

Sometimes you can make appointments on your own but that's rare.

I didn't know if you knew what Herb I was referring to that I use when my stomach bothers me.You may not want to use it but it does work.

tidalmouse: Yes in Spain doctors sends you to a specialist also, in fact all my tests are ok: urine, blood, ultrasound, gastroscopy and colonoscopy.


But my stomach continues with pain, a little bit less in the last 4 days.


I continue investigating.

Because I have been almost three months in perpetual stomach pain. This is not a symptom of ibs.

IBS is pain in the abdomen. From the M clinic website.

Irritable bowel syndrome commonly causes cramping, abdominal pain, bloating gas, diarrhea and constipation.

Seymour IBS will often plague a patient for a very long time and can sometimes be rather difficult to treat or control! Has any of your doctors suggested any type of special diet for you? Or suggested any foods to eat? Or foods to avoid eating? Or possibly medications to help alleviate your symptoms?

Ask your doctor about a drug called Linzess. when I was hospitalized with similar symptoms and constipation in my large intestine (so high up there we couldn't even manually reach it)… the GI doc put me on one Linzess a day. It has been a miracle drug for me. And it has something that relieves belly pain almost immediately. Plus it keeps you regular without giving you diarrhea. It'samazing stuff!

Jim1969 The type of pain I have is not due to IBS. Ibs produces pain only a few moments of the day, and it relief by bowel movement. I have a constant pain all the day, sometimes is very high, and I don´t have diarrhea and my pain does not relief by bowel movement.


White Beard: My doctors suggest me  soft-food diet , that I am following with no relief, and they suggest me some medication: spasmoctyl, omeprazol, simeticone...with no relief at all :(


Linds_: Linzess is a new drug. Thank you for your suggestion, I will ask to my doctor about it. One question: did you have intestinal blockage?

I don't know if you have IBS or not - stomach pain can sometimes be difficult to diagnose. I haven't been diagnosed with it myself, but years ago I dated a guy who had similar symptoms to what you described and his doctors couldn't put a name to it. I found out several years ago that he was diagnosed with IBS. When I was dating him, he was in pain almost all of the time, it just varied in degrees. The thing with IBS is that the symptoms can vary from person to person. For example, they might have diarrhea OR be constipated - and not all experience a relief from pain with a bowel movement - he didn't. Like I said, I don't know if you have it or not - I just wanted to offer what I know about it. Hope your doctors figure it out soon. Have a peaceful day.

I had 3 mesenteric cysts, on the tissue that holds the intestines together, that had to be drained. They caused severe pain and were only identified on CT scan. The pain felt like appendicitis, built up over a couple of days to intolerable.

Draining the cysts was done by inserting 3 very long needles along my tail bone up into my abdomen. That hurt horribly even with dilaudid, kept hurting for days. I asked to be knocked out but they refused. The area along side the tailbone is still tender after 2 years.

My point is there are more things to be explored.

seymour, severe chronic IBS can last all day, everyday and having a movement does not necessarily relieve the pain and discomfort on its own.

Not saying that you do or do not have it, only that you seem to be too quick to discount the diagnosis on misinformation.

Splashdancer: Thank you for your anecdote , IBS is the diagnostics that the doctor says when they have not idea what is going on.

Jim1969: People with IBS are not in perpetual pain, not at the point I am, I have read a lot of testimonies of people that suffered IBS and nobody has this pain, and those disabling symptoms that I have.

I was diagnosed with IBS, after I had my gall bladder removed. Let me tell you, it HURTS, all the time. Sometimes the pain and cramping is so bad I can hardly move. When I'm having a flair-up, it often lasts for months on end. It has caused me all kinds of additional problems. Anyway, for me, the pain is constant when I'm in a flair-up. I live on Imodium. Hope you feel better soon and can get that ct-scan.

alsoinpain could you define the pain?, is like cramps or is constant?, does it last all the day?, have you got diarrhea?, does the pain release after a bowel movement?, do you have pain between your shoulder blades?

Seymore, the pain is both cramps and shooting stabbing pain. The cramps do go away with a BM, (but usually comes back within an hour or so) but the shooting/stabbing like pain doesn't. I've been put on a proton-pump inhibitor to try to help that because I would also vomit too. It feels like its starting to help, an ulcer perhaps? not sure, but that's what were trying on me for now. Yes, i get the stabbing pains between my shoulder blades and it radiates around to my rib area as well. Sometimes it felt like I was having a heart attack. Also, the diarrhea has been so bad that I lost 85 pounds since last august. I was hospitalized twice for a week both times since December because my potassium got depleted so bad. Another drug that I take sometimes is welchol when its real bad. Its a "cholesterol" med, but my docotr said it binds to the bile in my gut to help firm up the D. I only take that when its severe though because then you have to watch out for getting backed up too bad. Sorry about the TMI, but sometimes to help explain, you have to just say it, ya know. Let us know how it goes for you. Its completely miserable.

I don´t know, but I am in pain almost all the day, I have to go to bed several times across the day, I think that it is not normal.
Perhaps is IBS?...I don´t know, my doctors says to me that I must to wait till the discomfort and pain will relief on his own...
I don´t know. But I want to be a normal person again.

Hi! It wasn't a physical blockage but there was some reason that things just were NOT moving. They had to give me a barium enema just to stop the pain and remove the stool. It was some of the worst pain ever. Linzess has been such an aamazing drug for me. I hope you find some relief!
