ER drs in the US can also have you admitted to the hospital. But, the type of problems/pain you're complaining of is not severe enough to warrant admission to a hospital.

Seymore, I'm sorry. But, just not being able to do these things doesn't raise to the level of being admissted to a hospital. Plus, what needs to be done for you can be done on an outpatient basis. Hospital admissions are for situations that can't be taken care of on an outpatient basis.

Well I have to play devil's advocate here. A patient coming into the emergency room several times in the course of a month presenting with severe undiagnosed abdominal pain is in fact a acute situation and unless they know something that we don't should have been aggressively looked into. This isn't back pain or TMJ,, or something thats known to cause chronic pain. This is an internal systemic issue and it's highly unusual to categorize abdominal pain as chronic without there being some underlying cause, some that are life threatening very quickly.

In other words something is causing that amount of stomach pain. Your stomach doesn't put forth pain because of a degenerative issue or the aging process, or even an injury.

Close monitoring by trained medical people for a few days might actually produce some answers.

Seymore, does the ER dr contact your dr when you go to the ER ? For example, do they call your dr and tell him that you're in the ER and why you're there ? I now this is very rarely done now days in the U.S., but, I'm not sure how it works there. Do the ER drs ask you what type of tests you have had done and what the results were as well as what you dr has said about the cause of the pain ?

Just throwing my opinion in and I agree with Vickie. I think this is something that is completely within the things the ER is there for as well as possible admission for a few days to see what's going on.
