Isn't that funny Vickie. I always went with my grandmother when I was little to the cemetary and we'd plant all the flowers. We always had to pick up red geraniums. And she had a little box in her trunk with garden tools too. When she passed away my mother made sure flowers were planted and then I took over years ago. It was nice when they put the water spigots in, no more having to fill jugs of water to bring with us.
Well we still go to the cemetary on Memorial weekend. I don't plant anymore. I put perennials in years ago so I wouldn't have to keep planting. It starting getting really expensive. So we go and just make sure everything still looks good and clean up anything that needs to be thinned out.
My oldest is in band in the high school so she has to march in the parade. We're a 2 town school district so they march in the parade and have a service up to the Amvets in one town and then come down to our town and march and have a service at the American Legion here, along with laying flowers at the grave of the unknown confederate soldier. Then we try and make it up to the Veteran's Cemetary in our state capital. My dad is buried there. He served in the Vietnam, Korean and both Iraq Wars.
Then home were the older girls help throw some salads together and hubby burns, I mean grills, food on the grill. LOL We generally get together with friends. Not so much with family as they live 2 hours away.
Other than that not much for us because the kids have school the next day.
