A letter was sent on June 23, 2014 to the Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services by Senator Charles Grassley and Senator Dianne Feinstein. The link to the letter won't copy & paste correctly. But, maybe the link below will help explain what is going on.

Was there really such a survey? I can't believe a doctor would admit to handing out pain meds just to get a high rating on something like that. It seems like it would be a good way to get his licence pulled.

There are patient satisfaction surveys for hospitals who receive Medicare. But, as always necessary details are missing. What was the patient treated for, what other conditions did the patient have, etc. ? But, the medical community and politicians won't pay attention to what is missing, only what is stated. Even though the letter wasn't sent to the medical community, they will be aware of the contents of the letter. Just like they have been made aware of the letters Senator Grassley sent to states & Medicare in 2010 and since then, inquiring about what was being done to high prescribers of pain meds and other specific meds.

I think this is a crock. Every time I have been in the hospital the past 2 years in patient admissions, I got one of these surveys. On the surveys I have received & they were all identical, it said if you were treated for pain was your pain addressed & that sort of thing. If you did not have pain skip to the next question.

I too find it highly unlikely some dr is going to say he offered drugs for a good survey, I have not every seen a review from a dr, its always been hospitals only. This is why I do not read this stuff its just garbage.

I certainly hope CMS, other politicians and members of the medical community believe it is garbage.

These people make me sick! In 30 years in medicine I have never seen a physician willing to sanction his license in lieu of a patient satisfaction survey, BS in capital letters. Do you honestly believe as hard a time as we have finding and obtaining a qualified and competent MD that accepts Medicare that they're out there in mass numbers scamming surveys and giving a rats rear where they come in as far as popularity on them? So they can beat down the doors to join all those mass amounts of Drs making a fortune on Medicare recipients? Hahahaha!

That letter is just another ploy by them to try to cut CPers throats again and tighten the noose on medicare Drs prescribing narcotics and CMS paying for them!! Look at who they are and what they do, titles tell all.
