Well sorry folks with the long weekend we somehow forgot Mondays check-in!! Better late then never right?

This is the place where you tell us how your holiday weekend went, share if you like. Let us know what the week ahead holds for you in the way of appointments,scans, tests, and procedures. Let us know if anyone could use some extra thoughts and prayers or just stop in and say hi and check-in!

Hope everyone's surviving the extreme heat, had a relatively low pain weekend and got to enjoy the 4th with family, friends, and fireworks!

Welcome to all the new folks and glad you all joined us and I apologize for check-in being late!

Have a good, low pain week ahead!

We enjoyed fireworks and some very good music on TV this year. Enjoyed that!

My recent big accomplishment is being able to drink from a glass, rather than a straw, with no neck pain. Woohoo!!

It's my birthday week-and now I'm on Medicare-it's that birthday. Lots of insurance changes and one doctor change. My PCP does not accept Medicare but that's ok.
I expect to have a very good week. Hope you do too.

Watched very local parade of kids, it was so sweet. Enjoyed ice cream with neighbors after the parade. A good time to be social and enjoy the amazing weather.

Walking dogs as always, though much slower than ever. We had open windows all weekend :-) deer and raccoon spotting in our 'hood.

My pain is more intense. Called the pain clinic this morning, phones not working, called another office to report additional pain and get details on upcoming rhizotomy. ((Sometimes I wish patients could actually talk to a friendly PA.) Those of you who have them are so blessed!

Had to cancel long-standing appt this morning can't drive on Vicodin with 40 min drive to and fro, 1 hour sitting in meeting and drive back

Summoning my courage to be positive today.

New PT started yesterday. It's supposed to be "aqua" but started with the usual measurements and some stretches I had to do myself. Even though I only did 3 or 5 out of the 20 reps, today it's ow-ow-ow!

The place is way to cold for me and they got out the heat AFTER the exercises.

I need stretches, but if I use muscles to do them I cramp and lock and spasm afterward and the next day. How do I get them to understand?

I'll take sweats and warm socks next time.

Alcie thats one of the purposes behind hydropool therapy, the pool temperature helps to reduce a lot of those spams that naturally increase during cold exposure? Therefore exercising becomes easier and less painful for you.

I would tell them your supposed to be doing those in the hydropool because of the horrible effects of cold exposure.

Wow, I completely forgot about Monday's check-in. I'm surprised we didn't accidentally do it on Sunday, what with the long weekend! But no, no, just to be different (that's our theme anyway, eh?) Tuesday pops along! ;P

My mind's in a fog, I didn't even notice.

I've had a cranky few weeks, pain has been a lot worse. It leveled out for a while but nope, not lately.

Wednesday is my first real official oncology follow up appointment, so getting nervous (the whole butterflies in the stomach thing going on)....

I guess it bears mentioning again, I'm grumpy....so the tone may be a little squashed for a bit.

I have an extension post to make, a question really. I take meds for PTSD, panic and depression with OCD (oh boy, I know) so, today I took Klonopin and it relaxed my horrible back and leg pain. I thought, Wowzers. Amazing! I have been on K for many many years with zero issues. I just couldn't believe it took my pain away better than any kind of Vicodin or acetaminophen (I CANNOT take NSAIDs because of Barrett's Esophagus (more fun) sheesh...

Sounds like to me that your pain is either caused by or enhanced by anxiety which the klonopin has reduced and therefore your pain decreased.

Well it has been the weekend from hell for me. Hubby's cheque was late so I was unable to get my prescription refilled. I was out of meds on Saturday, went into full horrible withdrawals that made me feel like I was dying and then really wanted to. He is now on his way to get my scripts thank goodness. I haven't been able to sleep or eat or stay out of the bathroom. I don't know how people go off of meds cold turkey. I truly feel like a crack addict that needs her fix. This is just the worst.

Lol Lynn, been there for sure and going off the methadone was the worst, lasted weeks and weeks and I wasn't cold Turkey but backed by butrans!! Its absolutely no fun! You should feel better soon and I dont know what or how much your on but go back on slowly and remember your levels are lower due to not having any for 3-4 days and sometimes taking your regular dose can cause nausea and ill feeling, always wise to go back to regular dose slowly.

I was looking for the check in, but it didn't dawn on me to say anything lol. I was having horrible pain, and I've been battling fatigue for a few months now.

I have two appointments this week. The first one is Thursday with a dermatologist, because I have a mole that doesn't look right. I'm scared that it's skin cancer. It's dark in color and looks strange on the top. The second appointment is with my counselor on Friday.

Could you all pray for me that this isn't skin cancer. I was a sun worshiper in my teens and early 20s, and I'm afraid it's catching up with me. I didn't use sunscreen. Now I use it.

I hope you all have a low pain week.

Hubby walked in the door about an hour ago with my meds and said "here's your fix". I was like wow because it really hit me. He was joking of course but I do realize that my body has become dependent on these and it does suck a bit. I take 12 mg hydromorph contin twice a day and then dilaudid 2 mg for breakthrough but only use them occasionally. I just think of all the money we have spent on my meds over the past three years and it's ridiculous. Okay enough venting from me.

Well darn Loretta we all missed the boat on this one! Hopefully your appointment will go smoothly and they dont tend to mess around with odd moles, easier to just air on the side of safety and get rid of them. Im keeping you in my thoughts and keep us posted!

Vickie, at least you remember to do the Monday check-in, you are much better at remembering than me!!! Oh well, what if its a day later, better than not at all, lol.

This week is a busy one with my grandson playing in the city golf tournament. He is 9 yrs old & loves golf. Today he won his match or whatever its called. He goes back tomorrow (Wed) for the 3rd day. His instructor was so excited for him that she called the parents & me as soon as the scores were posted. She brought him to my house when they finished & she grabbed me & hugged me & said she was so proud of her boys today. She has another little boy that is playing that she has taught too. His tee times have been at 7:00 the past 2 days & I am so glad because the heat is on here in Tx.

Keep your fingers crossed that Cole has another good day please.....

Life with chronic pain is hard. Sometimes I am grouchy, and sometimes all I want to do is lay. I have a little girl so that is never an option. Although, I get through. I am still Greiving my fathers unexpected passing. Grief makes pain worse for sure. So to get in here on a ***** fest but i am sure I'm not alone :-). Keep fighting the good fight everyone. Thankful to have a place to vent.

Possible Jim61938, however last evening hubby and I walked the dogs together and afterwards (from the walk) I did have pain, I fix my gait to avoid specific pain. I thought the Klonopin relaxed more than just my anxiety.

Definitely will bring this up with both my psychologist and psychiatrist.
