Tens unit use and upcomming EMG

I am scheduled for an EMG tomorrow for nerve impingement in left upper extremity. I am anxious to get through this and learn the results. I wasn't given any specific instructions except to wear a shirt that allows access to my neck & shoulder area.

I have read conflicting info on using meds before the test. Mostly, I rely on a TENS unit...will this cause any issues? I have to think not as the pain relieving effects are gone before I can get the pads off. But as I am in new waters here I thought I would ask. I can't ask the Dr as by the time I get hold of them I will already have driven the 90 minutes to get there fro my appointment. Is anyone familiar with this situation? I really don't want get false results.

No, your Tens will not interfere with the test at all. As far as meds go, its a real mixed bag about if meds can muddy up the water.

Oh good! Thanks for the feedback. I really miss my tens when I am not hooked up. From what I have read I will really want it afterwards.

Muscle relaxer meds could effect this testing so you probably should try to be off these meds for 3 days before getting this testing done. Just to make sure your getting a good results ...
