These tests are done to see how bad you nerves are and usually done together. The also target specific nerves to see which ones are causing you problems.
However, MRI's should be done first, with and without contrast. Then possibly ct scan, then if needed these nerve tests, to see if you need surgery and to give your doctor more information as to what disc needs the most repairs should surgery be needed.
Nerve testing is not aways the best or mosts reliable test, but its a good base tests only after mrs and cts are done. Then sometimes its not needed after getting mris and cts done.
Whatever you do, walk away from any doctor that suggests a discogram...
