did my surgeon mess up my surgery? suffering chronic pain

I hope someone can help here. I had laparscopic kidney surgery 4 months ago to fix a urine blockage, since then I am having constant dull ache in flank area every second of the day, the pain is very deep, sometimes it feels like my side is burning.
Tests show my original problem is fixed, i also have no kidney infection. My doctor is saying he doesn't know why I am still having pain.
The pain is only after surgery so does it mean my surgeon did something wrong? Could he have caused an injury? Because I feel like I have a deep wound inflammed area inside. Am I hurting from injured nerves? If so, does it ever get better, Im only 25 and I cant imagine living like this rest of my life, im on toradol(nsaid) which doesnt help at all and percocept which helps but without complete relief.
What tests will show injured nerves and how can I fix this problem please? Thank you

First, so very sorry about your situation.

Have you had a ultrasound scan done, (if possible) to check inside and make sure nothing got left inside. Maybe see about x rays...

The hard part is keeping on the doctor that your in serious pain and need help, make this doctor listen to you, as he's your only hope ( doctors don't like to see mistakes or injuries caused be other doctors, provided this is the case, could be a simple nerve injury).

Now if it is a nerve injury in most likely was a accident and it still means you need to keep on this doctor for further help.

Call this doctors nurse see if they can fit you in on a cancelations lists for help, you really need to find out some answers if possible or get a referral from this doctor for another specialists .

Others will come by tomorrow for further help for you, its kinda slow on here on weekends.

Many well wishes and I hope your doctor can help you, keep pressing this and for further testing....might be hip related....ask your doctor if it could be related to something else going on...

I am scheduled for an ultrasound tomorrow and seeing him couple days later. But he did hint that I may continue to suffer from chronic undiagnosed surgery pain. I saw another specialist after, and he said theres nothing he can do and I follow up with my urologist.
From MRI and CT scan which will be more definitive in showing nerve, tissue injury? Also I was in hospital for week because of severe pain for this surgery when it shouldve been two days so I feel maybe he did botch my surgery but he says surgery was textbook, which I dont believe

I had severe abdominal pain after bladder surgery. Mine went away without treatment slowly after a couple of weeks. Good thing, because my doctors ignored me. At least it's treatable if it's this nerve entrapment problem.

Hi again and its possible to have some sciatic nerve involvement post the lap procedure. Most likely accidental getting too close,swelling,whatever and its possible that you could have problems here on out or that it may calm down and go away after lengthy healing process.

Its not a fixable thing,not a single solution answer but finding the right combination to calm it down. There are meds designed for just that kinda pain and I explained some of those in your other thread.

There's also Dr's who specialize in nerve pain or Neuropathy.

Importantly first is making sure there's no other problems with post- op and kidney functions.

@Alcie the link isn't working but I try message therapy, accupuncture etc to see if all that helps.

@nvrthesame98, I thought sciatic nerve is below lower back and since kidneys lie in upper abdomen, it couldnt be that? My pain radiates from back, flank, to front in the abdomen, which is typical kidney pain so I feel maybe its the nerves in the kidney or nearby

Check out the sciatic nerve at Medscape or any of the online medical sites. It actually is a very long nerve that passes through the body behind almost every area of the spine and into the abdomen and legs so that nerve can cause issue at any and all junctions that have been compromised. Its is not just a nerve associated with spinal issues and the most common place to have damage is actually the leg and groin.

Hip pain is also associated as pain in your thighs and down the inner leg...could be either hip or back pain.
How did the ultrasound go?

my pain doesnt go that much down, its mostly by ribs flank area, i dont feel pain in groin or legs. I saw my urologist after ultrasound, he said everything is normal even kidney is normal size now. He said he cant find any urologic/ kidney cause and that this pain is in my head for sure since I have been anxious from the time of this ongoing problem. i tried to disagree about pain in my head which I think upset him so he told me to just leave lol and follow with my family doctor, his job was done.
I got prescription for gabapentin from gp, he wouldnt give me lyrica, but i guess if this makes pain less then I guess I will know its nerves most likely if not then mostly its still my kidney healing from surgery.

First get seen by a cardiologists to rule out anything heart related and to be safe, rib/chest pain you should always rule out heart related causes, then maybe see if it could be fibro or gastro/intestional pain. Go back to your primary doctor and start there....keep pushing for answers...

Don't panic about my saying heart related, but its always best to get your heart checked out, just as a precaution...

Maybe ask your primary for liver and kidney bloodwork as well, just to rule things out...

Alcie I'm registered in the professional medscape and thought you could access the regular site without having to register. My links would be so full of medical terminology it would be difficult for some to understand and be scary as well!!

I am so sorry for your pain. I hope the gabapentin helps. I was on Lyrica for a couple years but the Doctor got me off slowly. Mostly due to weight gain. It did not stop all of my pain but I realized when off that it helped some. I did not notice side effects on Lyrica but did have withdrawal symptoms when I came off. You do need to come off very slowly. I found out when off what nerve spasms are. I believe that gabapentin works in similar ways. If it is nerve pain you might get some relief.
