Monday Check-In

Almost forgot! Welcome all new members this is Monday check-in. We drop in here hopefully every Monday to tell about our weekend and what's up for the week ahead. If you want to share your upcoming appointments procedures, surgeries this is the place to do it.

If your having problems maneuvering the forums or have any questions about posting and the rules ask here and one of us will help you.

Schools are heading back into session everyone pay special attention driving and keep the kids safe!

I haven't done a check in for a fair while, but a good morning to everyone - and thoughts to Kitt & family and anyone else in need of them x

I'm burbling along - struggling physically, but in a pretty good place mentally. Partly my own fault - with mum still largely out of action after her fall (two broken arms) I'm having to do a lot more around the house than my body likes, and pacing has gone out the window. Doesn't work so well when we're trying to change and adjust pain meds and haven't got them right yet, but knowing I'm doing good by mum helps. It's also good in a way for figuring out what I can and can't do, as I'm looking into various ways I might be able to move into my own place sometime in the next few years and how much/what sort of carer assistance I will need with household chores and such. Otherwise, just had some nice "snuggle time" with my four month old kitten and working on my teddy bears.

A few procedures coming up for me. I'm having another Botox injection next week for my piriformis syndrome. That can't come soon enough, I've got wicked sciatic pain and some other odd nervy pain and numbness issues with my foot and leg that don't quite fit. I know the Botox is incredibly effective for me, so I'm a bit anxious to see if the injection will knock out the new pain too and whether we need to investigate. I also recently found out that my pump needs replacing, so I've got to make an appointment soon with the neurosurgeon to get that sorted.

Aqua PT is helping. I'm seeing some sports medicine PTs. Their stretches are pretty vigorous, really what I need. I can't get any worthwhile results on my own, and I've tried for many months. The bottom line for the aqua is the gentle exercises in warm water relaxing the muscles and tendons after the painful stretches. For my chronic muscle shrinking, this is working. But what do I do when my second session of 8 visits runs out? I'm going to continue to have this problem.

The epidural injections for the shingles is kicking in too. It was so frustrating having to wait a full week with insurance's new rules on approvals. I wonder if you have to wait for cardiac stents too. I need to see my cardiologist about chest pain that is getting chronic.

Alcie check around your area to see if any campground, motel have heated pool and allow non-staying folks the use of their pool, generally may be a small fee. Then ask when the least busiest pool time is so you will be relatively alone. You've learned the exercises now you can do without therapist on hand. If that fails to turn up anything most local Y's have heated pools and offer low impact exercises for seniors or you can just use the pool.
