Hello all!

I've just been prescribed the Butrans patch (10 mcg). I just applied my 2nd patch on Thursday. It seems to be working fairly well for my pain (extreme daily headaches, cervical injury and torn back muscles) from being crushed in my car during an avalanche. Anyway, I just wanted to know if anyone else has been experiencing any foot aches (and slight burning) since using the patch and if it subsided with continued use. Again, I've only been using this for just over a week. Thanks!

I only used the Butrans 5 for 3 months.I really don't remember a whole lot about it.It was a while ago.

I hope it provides you with the relief you're seeking.

Hello & welcome to the chronic pain forum. Wow, what a story you have to tell about how your medical issues began.

I have never been on Butrans however, we have had a few members that were tried on it. Most of them did not stay on it very long as they found it ineffective for their pain relief. I do not recall anyone complaining of foot aches/burning as a side effect. Have you checked to see if this is one of the side effects? You mentioned some back issues & it makes me wonder if this foot situation is coming from your back. You really need to let the dr know this is going on. Hi, I tried all three strengths of Butrans and really wanted it to work because it's so much easier than tracking pills, but it didn't work well enough for my pain and gave me a rash like you wouldn't believe.

I do not remember any foot or other aches, my main side effects were nausea and blurred vision (in addition to the rash/itching).

How does the butrans patch compare with Fantasy? I'm on Fentanyl 50mcg and it's been a game changer for me. Tomorrow makes a full month and tomorrow I'll tell my PM Dr that it's working.

I was on butrans as well only a short time and to help get the rest of the way off methadone and didn't find I it did much at all for pain.

Like Susie my initial thought was the spinal injury was likely to be the culprit more then the butrans. It could just be coincidental it started at about the time you were given the meds. I have never heard anyone have that type of problem.

One question, did you switch to butrans from something else? Is this your first med for pain?

So does anyone know what the difference between Butrans and Fentanyl? I noticed Butrans dosage is like 5, 7.5, 10 etc. where as Fentanyl is 25, 50, 75, etc.

I only ask because the Fentanyl patch really has helped me manage my pain along with my meds. I've had one of the best months ever and the only thing I did differently is the patch.
