OT -- just got a nice raise

This is totally off topic, but since my wife is at work and I want to share...

I just received word that my "request" for a raise has come through. about 6 weeks ago, I sent a letter to my boss's boss requesting a raise so that my salary better reflected my level of professional success. By good fortune, I also bumped into his boss about 2 weeks ago and had a very good conversation.

So, I just learned that my salary has been raised by 20%! Woo hoo!

Maybe a dinner out tonight!

Considering most of the posts are negative, I'm happy to read about good news and small victories. I am also being considered for substantial raise and with my wife bringing home the bacon I'm considering getting a Mustang, Challenger or Camaro. Although she wants a luxury family car so we will see.

Anyhoo, congrats on your raise, that's awesome news.

We have a lot of struggles, and I am fortunate enough to have a job that is able to accommodate my CP. I can work from home most days and thus so long as I am well enough to be in front of a computer, I'm able to do my job.

jpjr50, I recently bought an Acura TL -- never even thought about it as a car for me, but my 10 year old Mazda broke down and as it was being serviced, wandered over to the Acura dealership next door. The seat was so comfortable, amazingly so, I traded in the Mazda.

Since, when I do go in to work, I have a 45 mile drive, a comfortable ride is vital for me.

That's exactly what my wife wants- Acura, Hyundai Genesis, Audi, etc.  She has a 45 mile each way hike to work while mine is 2 miles each way.  I have a big SUV and can go a month between fill up's.  Right now she is driving a little Mazda since it gets good MPG but my son turns 16 in a few months so that will be his.  In April we went to the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Palm Beach and purchased a Mercedes 500S for my Dad (mint with low miles).  We were on stage with car, was on TV bidding and everything.  Maybe I'll go back next April and buy something like this for my wife.
