PM Visit #2

My first PM vist went well. I am still continueing the process of RFA, still have 3 burns left to do, it has turned into a pretty painful procedure. They are not doing water cooled, and they think it is heating up my hardware.

I have my visit today to get my normal med refills. The doctor I saw on trip 1 will only be overseeing my case and handling any injections, the PA will handle my meds. Last visit I brought my wife, this visit she cannot go but she will be going every other visit with me.

I need to get a copy of my pain contract when I go in today, they did not provide me with one last time. I want to have one just to make sure I do not risk violating it.

I am assuming this visit will be more like what the rest of my visits will be like in the future.

Is there anything they can do to keep your hardware from heating up? I would have thought this was something they would have taken into consideration before doing the procedure. I have lots of metal in me & I would be a little spooked.

Visit #2 was alright. I am not a big fan of the PA, she was kind of rude. Luckily the doctor had put good notes in and said to not deviate from his plan. She did want me to go see a shrink, in the back of my head I was thinking lets wait until I get the other procedures done. The doctor wanted to hold off on any additions or changes until my RFA was completed.

I do not want to be a difficult patient though, so I told her that would be fine. As of right now, I am seeing a shrink next Friday. I asked if I could bring my wife, they said yes. I want her to talk about how the pain has effected my life also. I am trying to do a better job of involving her in this, as even though the pain is something I deal with, she has to deal with me.

So overall the second visit was alright, I am just not a fan of his PA. I can deal though, I figure if I am super compliant as a patient she will not be able to say or do anything lol.

It's funny, I can tell the MAs at my PM docs are a little overworked, so I always make a point to stop and ask about their kids, families, vacations, etc., I know them all by name and they know me. They're all very sweet.

The PAs are really nice too, but it's really the MAs that are overworked as far as I can tell. But having a good relationship with the whole staff at your PM doc's office, from the receptionist up to the doc him/herself is key :)
