It really just depends on what your willing to endure, and if you can handle the pain.
Do you know what percentage of a tear you have?
IMO 30% or less you could get by with just treating the symptoms, but you are still risking further tearing and such.
Do you have dis
locations and or instability or just pain?
Surgery recovering is much harder with more complete tears, anchors and the type of repair needed. I am about
5-6 weeks post of for 2 RC tears and it being completely off the bone, bicep and labrum.
It is a hard recovery...but I'd consider things like are you risking making it worse, etc.
surgery is a hard, and individual decision to make, so follow your instincts, maybe see how PT feels, and goes and take it from there.
The injections will only (maybe) relieve some of the inflammation and for a short period of time, but it may buy you the time you need.
Many people live with these tears really, it all depends on things like functionality, pain levels, degree of damage, and your desire for surgery or not.
sorry that you too have to deal with this!
question:are you seeing a Sports Med Ortho, or an Ortho that ONLY does shoulders and knees for example? If not, I suggest you do!
