Just another problem..I have bad pain in my elbow ..I am unable to lift anything with that arm without dropping it..My dr..has me scheduleed for a cat scan of my showder ..WICH does nit make SENCE to me if the pain is coming from my elbow,,,Inrecently found a lump just above my elbow..I can move it back and forth causes more pain in my elbow...do you think the lump could be sitting on a nerve and that's what bothering it...And why would he do a test on my shoulder....could it be my shoulder ..any info would be great ..have so much going on right now..I need to figure all this out so I can go on with my life as pain free as I can

Hi Tomuchpain33 an Welcome to Healing well Chronic Pain Forum. Actually I think your Doctor might just be right you just might have nerve impingement in your shoulder.Also maybe an MRI of your cervical spine might be in order! A nerve impingement in your cervical spine could also be causing your problem. When I herniated my disc at C6/7 all my pain and discomfort and weakness was in my elbow going down my forearm into my hand and fingers! For me the pain felt just like when you hit your crazy bone (elbow) with that hot burning sensation running down my arm into my fingers! And yes it was difficult to pick stuff up an even hold things up in my hands.

Allot of times with nerves the originating damage is not always at the spot of the pain or where the problem appears, it is often where the nerve originates as in the nerve root coming off the spine or some place along the nerve path (such as the shoulder area)

Anyway don't let this go to long! Get it diagnosed and taken care of as soon as you can! Problems like this can get worse and can result in further complications!

Welcome to the chronic pain forum. Sorry to read you are having such issues to deal with. The arm sounds really painful.

I agree with everything WhiteBeard said above. Work with your dr & let him do whatever tests are necessary to get to the root of your problem.

Yeah, what they said! My hand and elbow pain is from a nerve compression in my neck and shoulder. I drop stuff all the time now and have switched to plastic plates and cups. Its easier to watch them bounce then shatter.

about the lump....generally speaking if it hurts don't so it. So maybe don't push on it. Leave it be and make sure the doc knows about it.

A good docs work from neck down on arm hand pain. that's where the nerves start that feed the whole arm. Its like untangling a hose. start at one end and work your way down.

And now the hardest thing:
Be patient. It may take a while to get things figured out. Honestly, it sounds like your doc is on top of things. You are lucky in that respect. I know it hurts. There are many of us here that are way too familiar with upper extremity issues.

It is sad that you too are in pain, but you found an awesome group full of information and experience. keep us updated.

I have tenderness and tingling in my right thigh. There is a lump in the middle of the outside of my thigh. It is caused by back problems. So the doctor may be right.

I agree with what others have said so far. Your entire peripheral/central nervous system are connected, along with other bones, tissues, and cartilage that we may not even think about, so I'd trust your doctor for now and see what s/he says. There will probably be further tests based on their findings from this one, so I doubt this will be the last of it for you.

Good luck, I really hope they figure it out QUICK.
