Good Morning MW: I too felt and sometimes feel like you do - but you are NOT all alone. My journey into CP hit me at 49 and within 2 years my life was literally turned upside down. I had to say goodbye to my career (approved for SSDI), all my hobbies that required any kind of exertion, highly limited activity and the realization that this would never change. What an landbasting that was!
But like you, it is so hard to feel that your are not alone because every day for me is a challenge. Whether it be the weather (cold and rain = pain), extreme fatigue and pain. Yes I am on medication but that only takes care of some of the pain and I refuse to be medicated like a zombie!
I have been married for 35 years now and I could not have made it this far without the support of my husband. He cleans the house, takes care of all the yard work, puts my scooter in and out of the van (when I can leave the house), oversees my meds, etc, etc. He didn't and could not comprehend the pain that I was in at first, but now totally understands.
What can I say to you to make you feel better? I can say that you do make a difference in someone's life, I know that much. You have to be strong, you have to make the best of the worst if you know what I mean. If you get to feeling really low MW, don't be ashamed to go and talk to someone (your GP or a psych/therapist). Sometimes a shoulder to cry on, just to let it out, does a wonder of good. Maybe you will need a med to help control those feelings, maybe not. Have you had a really good talk with your hubby? Let him know how you feel, let him know that you need him to be strong for you.
Yes you are young, but CP has no boundaries!
Do you have any relatives that you can talk to, that will support you?
I have many many bad days even though I have taken my meds, hugged my heating pad, sat in the Jacuzzi, had a massage, etc. Sometimes its like you cannot even put a dent in the pain, its relentless. Don't let it consume you, find a hobby to do - I do needle stitching on my recliner. You have to find something to keep your mind off of your pain.
You are not alone! Seek out help to ease your depression and grow stronger with your hubby at your side. You take care!
