extreme pain and no answers

I Am 21 years old and ive been to 4 different doctors in the past two weeks. Once my PCP then another pcp at the same office. I went to urgent care two nights ago and then with another doctor last night for two hours. I have been extremely fatigue for months and months every once in awhile I would get pains in my body...well its gotten worse and worse....my entire body feels like its being squished under something extremely heavy. I have no motivation I'm so so tired. My hands hurt when I write and when I say my entire body hurts I mean my toes my knees my hands my neck my back my head EVERYTHING. Not one doctor has given me a answer as to why or what's happening with me...I'm so.miserable and I am.in so much pain. I lay on the the floor for hours because its the most relief I can get and even that is painful. I've had so many blood tests done and now they want more and to do other testing. They gave me medication to take for muscle inflammation (steroid) but it doesn't seem to be working because yet again I was on the floor. My hands and feet keep swelling up along with the rest of my body and they get numb and tingle at times..

Does anyone have any tips for the pain? The other symptoms ( weight gain, mood swings, depression, hair loss in shower hair brush Don't bother me as much as the pain, swelling and numbness/tingling in my hands and feet. 

I am willing to try anything! I need some relief 😢

Welcome to the CP forum and I too am sorry your having a lot of pain and problems and getting no answers. Mind you we can't diagnose but we have a fairly broad range of dealing with pain and the things that cause and the things that help it. Even though think the meds are not working stay on them. Anti-inflammatory meds take some time and they may be doing more than you think. Do you live near a Teaching hospital or medical school affiliated one? If not try to make a trip to the nearest one even if you have to go through the emergency department they are the best place to be when something strange is happening that other Drs are not connecting. Daesin gave you a few things that carry some of the same symptoms,lymes and tick borne diseases,autoimmune diseases such as lupus,super infections and sometimes something as simple as a deficiency in some vitamin,electrolyte,hormone,or enzyme can be the culprit.

I hope you find someone that can figure out what is causing the problem and good luck.

My first two (uneducated personally, only peripherally in men) thoughts were that either your pancreas is going haywire or your CP is turning into Fibro (the latter included panic attacks first, and I was sooo confused). I'm not sure what your next step could be but I definitely think it would help to try to 'fix' the anxiety first to see what happens. Also, as someone who has had anxiety forever, our body gets stuck in anxiety too. Lack of sleep keeps that wheel turning so I agree that trying to get sleep controlled is a great first step. I find magnesium really works, and I used to take hardcore anxiety and depression meds. Give magnesium a try. (I've heard oxide isn't as effective because the body gets rid of it faster than other forms, but it seems to work on me)

Hi, sorry! I somehow got route to this thread after reading a different thread and then logging in. Odd.

You know, we have had an influx of younger pain folks who are really confused and alarmed about their status and I just want to say that it's totally appropriate for you to be frustrated. This is the best time if your life (so they say) and you're stuck in limbo trying to figure out how to get back to the normal you. That sucks and your have my sympathy. The good news is that you found a forum and we have a lot of folks with a lot of varied knowledge.

I also agree that it sounds like autoimmune or infectious disease/Lyme. How are your arms? Do they tingle too? Or is it just hand pain when writing? Have you checked out lupus and Lyme forums yet to see if anything sounds related?

I have a suggestion to consider what may be ailing you: anxiety/panic attacks. I only say this because at one time in my life I suffered from them and had many of the symptoms that you are describing. Panic attacks can have very very real symptoms that will make you feel like your dying. I can remember some of them being so intense: numbness and tingling in my arms, hands, legs and feet. My head hurting so bad. My blood pressure going up and down causing pain and discomfort for what I thought was body wide. You can have extreme fatigue, restlessness, and anorexia. The hormone imbalance and flushes of adrenaline are very powerful on the brain and body.
As other folks have said, DO NOT dwell on how you feel because believe it or not it will make it worse! Of all things do try to relax and I understand it is very hard to when you feel so bad.
Follow up with your care givers and do what testing they deem appropriate, chances are something will show up that will lead to a diagnosis.

Daesin said, "i am not a doctor", then gave a sophisticated litany of real good directions to look. i have seen a lot of doctors but not many with that insight. for your age and "global" or all over body pain an autoimmune disorder is possible, many have a age of onset near 21-25 some 35. the steroid more than muscle inflammation, (it gets that done), it is an immune system suppressor. inflammation is immune system rooted like a fever when immune system detects a virus. it depends on how long on the steroid and dose but if it was autoimmune they should cause a "remission" of symptoms. with your symptoms i would seek out a Rhuematologist in your area. they treat autoimmune disorders and are great diagnosticians. the PCPs and Urgent Care while may help find relief of symptoms probably are not going to be able to diagnose this. when you talk about toes and fingers and it must be near top cause you mention it first or close i thought about Gout. Gout is a build up in Uric acid that accumulates in joints forming glass-like shards that cause severe pain and swelling, primarily attacks toes and fingers first. not all you mention fits Gout but the test is simple, it is a Uric acid level test in blood work which may have been done and normal or done and overlooked? "RLS" reflex sympathetic dystrophy is a chronic pain disorder that full body pain is described at times, "CRPS" chronic regional pain syndrome is similar, both are autoimmune i believe but steroids may not make much of a dent? Lupus or Ankylosing Spondylitis are two more autoimmune disorders, the latter is arthritis of the spinal column that can produce full body pain. Polymyalgia Ruematica another. you need to find a Rhuematologist a set up a consult. on Healthgrades.com you can find one near you and man or woman and other preferances you may have like age. i had bad chronic pain in my early 20s so i can relate and i understand. there is light at the end of the tunnel and you found a great bunch of people on this forum who care and are knowledgable and experienced. how did this start? how long from day 1 to get to this point?

WOW! I Could have written that post in 2006 when my life fell apart. first I had a TIA on my way to work ambulance driver thought I was drunk. I started losing my hair in huge clumps. then I got sic(?) I was on the floor for 2 weeks with the worst pain and the headache was so bad I couldn't see the tremors started that my body shook all day everyday. it progressed to the point I couldn't take care of myself. after all was said and done looking back #1 hormones had a lot to do with it. #2 emotions had a lot to do with
# 3chronic pain was just a coincidence it was coming no matter what else was happening.
you will have many doctors and doctor visits in your future BEFORE YOU START TALK TO DOCTORS GET AN INSURANCE ADJUSTER AND GET DISABILITY POLICY ADDED TO HOME AND CAR!!! I once asked my insurance guy about getting a policy in case I get sick and cant work and he laughed and said your husband makes the most money so we will just insure him..........I learned not to let people decide for me anymore. I would have lost my home without my husband working.

after time thinking about your situation and reading your post again, i believe time is of the essence. realize that ERs and PCPs or urgent care with a blood panel will not advance you out. tomorrow morning i would call maybe go to a: Rhuematologist (they can detect heart defects), Cardiologist (or a practice), or an Orthopedic doctor who can image your toes, fingers, knees, back, all so you know if or if not joint and muscle is a part, they would be able to say if inflammation was present which would would indicate immune overactivity. you may have gout or rickets and a cure that is fast and simple may be very possible, time is vital.
