I developed delayed gastric emptying from taking a PPI (omeprazole 20mg). I know it was the medication that caused the problem, since I did not have a virus or surgery. The PPI was the only medication I was taking.
Symptoms of delayed gastric emptying can include: abdominal fullness, burping, bloating, GERD/LPR, abdominal distention, weight loss, malabsorption of nutrients, stomach pain, nausea, and in worse cases vomiting.
The delayed gastric emptying started to reverse itself once off the medication, but I had to go through three months of horrible acid rebound to get off this medication.
