I have had about
5 nerve blocks so far called tap block, intercostal nerve block, rectus sheath, all with injections on my abdomen( my right upper quadrant) to help my chronic abdominal wall pain. Unfortunately none have provided any relief, even temporary. But my question is were all these blocks supposed to numb my area so that I cannot feel any touch, sensation for the time being?
Reason I ask is because I am able to pinpoint my pain area, If I press into one spot, I feel increased pain, if I pick my skin around area, it feels painful. So I was hoping since they were going to block these nerves( which are all sensory), that now I would feel total numbness of that part. Even if there was pain, at least upon touching it wouldnt increase because Im supposed to be numb. But none of these blocks altered my feeling of that area in anyway from before. I was able to feel myself touching, I felt same pain, and more of same pain upon pressing. For all the blocks whenever I touched it felt same like touching the rest of my abdomen
So is this how nerve blocks are, or did they miss anything or am I missing something. I hope someone knows what Im talking. Thanks
