Chart...Just a quick 2 cents
Seriously consider the power recliner, regardless of the brand you choose. My older sister told me about them, so we test drove one...a-mazing! They have such a smoothe delivery up/down. I had hesitated because I pictured the slow-moving lift chairs. They are not. I wish I had listened to my sister and tried the power recliner sooner. They have a button hidden in the seat that is easy to access. The power mechanism has a warranty...which was my first question.
Shop with caution. So many of the beautiful high end recliners we tried are "push back" with no lever or handle mechanism. I asked the salesperson why? She said that "people" want chairs that "don't look" like recliners. Huh? We wanted wing back recliners that looked nice, yet function was paramont. I need TKR (both) and have extensive spine issues. We searched far and wide, finally purchasing 2 Braddington-Youngs. Although they have a small handle mechanism that reclines, even my husband has a difficult time "closing/locking" the foot rest. I have regretted this purchase, because that "closing" motion KILLS my bad knees. Lesson learned, though terribly expensive and too late.
We've moved to the other side of the den to sit in our 22 year old Lane recliners, that we retired due to wear in the leather. They still function great. They just needed a nice throw blanky to hide the wear. We custom ordered the pair of Lane recliners (with lever) in 1993. We've never had ONE problem with them.
We sit in those and look across the room at our MISTAKE purchase, which are beautiful to look at but require a young, strong person to operate. We're neither, so we're SOL. Oh, well...Some day over the rainbow, we'll purchase the power chair version...best invention IMO...since the microwave oven, for those of us with bone/joint issues. My sister will always say I told ya so!
We live and learn, hopefully. You've gotten good suggestions regarding chair height, etc. If my neck ain't happy, nobody's happy. I would never be able to order a chair without first having sat in it. Even then I convinced myself that the foot rest issue wouldn't be so bad...wrong.
HAPPY SHOPPING sister friend. A little retail therapy is good for your soul, while DH is away. Oh, and good luck with your dress issues!
