Morphine, in the form of Embeda. With IR Morphine for BT.

Truthfully I wasn't sure what was going to happen when I told her that Nucynta just doesn't even come close to cutting it. That I'm having a new/recycled thoracic pain that's laying me out flat on my back on the bed for several hours a day with pain 9+, and that I've considered going to the ER a few times over it. (see my primary Tues. to see if she can give me some kind of take on what might be going on there). Went MUCH better than I expected. She asked me what I wanted to take for BT, ok sort of sat there with my mouth hanging open for a sec and said they only thing other than the Nucynta I'd ever had was oxy/percs and some vicodan when I had knee surgery and I didn't want anything with tylenol. She said the head Dr. HATES oxy so I told her just pick something, I won't know until I try it, so ended up with morphine. As far as the Embeda goes, Right now we've maxed out all our maximum
out of pockets and all so our prescription co-pay's are zero so why not try the brand name one now? Might as well get something for that huge premium pmt we make the first of every month right?

Anyway the pharmacy had to order the Embeda so it will be Tuesday before I get it, unless I want to drive into town Monday night, NOT. I'll see how it goes, at least I know I get some relief feom morphine.

Yaknow, I found it a good sign that you were asked what you thought. It's good that there was conversation about it. Because of the stigma that morphine has (and I think it's an age/cultural thing), I'd have been more emotional about it 'coming to that'. You seem to have your head around all of this, or at least you're getting there. I know the objective here is pain management, to improve quality of life, but man...*sigh* I really hope it works for you. Obviously when it's exploded into 9+ and you're enduring that degree of pain you NEED to be willing and open to different solutions.

Let us know how you're getting along on the embeda. I pray it brings you the much needed relief you deserve.
