I was sitting in the lobby today, waiting to go back and see the doc. Not a low pain time after the 90 minute ride but am not screaming or kicking (I do however, reserve the option for a future moment). I end up doing what I always do... people watch. I notice this little guy across the room, maybe 7. His arm in a red cast. He tries to sit still, soon he fiddles, then he fusses and scoots away. I watched him explore the room. Eventually he ambled over and we talked. He told me he fell off the slide. Seems the young man was standing on a skateboard atop a slide.
He isn't mine so I am not going to scold him. I am sure he heard enough of that and he is in a cast. So instead I asked if he was afraid to do it again. He looked over at mom real quick, cupped his hand to my ear and kid whispers "I already did, its fun."
I want to keep that grin in my mind and remember not to be afraid.
