Nerve pain I think, minor but noticable

Hi all. Just joined. Found your forum in searching about this nagging pain in my leg.
I know this has been covered but mine is a little unique.

I had a tattoo done on my thigh about 2 and a half years ago. It never bothered me one bit until 3 weeks ago. From reading Google results, others describe what I'm experiencing but immediately after the tattoo.

It is an intermittent tingling and numbness and is present more at rest than at work.

My question is is this normal to experience years after a tattoo. It's kinda freaking me out as its new to me and I'd think it shouldve happened right after, not 2.5 years later.

Sounds like nerve damage. Get it checked out by a dr. I hope a dr. will be ble to help you find out if there was some nerve dame as that is how it can feel like tingles or that in my case my feet & legs fell asleep.

Some folks take Gabepentin but I did not like the drug or get any help from it. Since I had problems with meds I just stopped using it because you can be On my way! Physically dependent on it. Same as lyrica another popular drug for nerve damage. I can't take it either, but some people swear by it.

Hello and welcome to the forum. As for the tingly kinda feeling it certainly sounds like nerve pain but whether it is related to something like a tattoo that long ago is doubtful. It can be indicative of a underlying issue of the lower spine area so that would be my starting point for answers,getting into a Dr who can order a scan to rule out any spinal problems.peripheral neuropathy has several causes and treating it is sometimes difficult but like Fox said there are medications solely for that. Good luck and hopefully you can find some answers to the new pain.

It may have nothing to do with your leg. A pinched nerve in the spine needs to be ruled out before doing anything drastic or taking meds. There are so many spots in the spine for a little arthritis to cause thigh, leg and foot pain!

A neurologist, or even your PCP, may be able to diagnose, but a pain clinic might be a better choice because they deal with leg pain all the time.
