Get ready and prepared for a cat. 1 hurricane, My prayersare with you and please take pre cautions and stay safe...a hurricane in any cat is hard to live through. Weare still making repairs from Ike!

For the rest of up and down the East coast and in to the west a little too!

Here in the Pittsburgh area we remember Ike. My kids were fishing in the highway while we were water-bound for 4 days. The stop sign at the next intersection was under water. We could only have gotten out by climbing or taking the tractor up over the mountain. We were very lucky that time not to lose power.

Take care, and check your emergency kit, even if you're only thinking of winter.

Governor Scott issued warnings yesterday and I as others are certainly preparing for the worst. Yesterday I obtained a humane trap for the two feral cats I have been feeding since they were abandoned at weeks old,got a few more cat carrier's to handle the inside cats and the dog. Dropped the awnings and did what I could for the pool to ensure it's not destroyed. Filled jugs with water,got batteries,candles,gas and charcoal as well as oil for the lamps and gas for the generator,stocking up on ice from the ice maker,sandbags,and food staples,repaired a couple of hurricane shutters on the house.

I think we have covered about all we can but since I live bordered by the ocean in front of me by yards,the river at my back by quarter of a mile I am in first evacuation therefore the plan is in place to move inland early out thus the pet carriers and trap. The schools have refreshed the hurricane plan with the kids and we are watching closely and as ready as we can ever be for something like this.

To everyone else I know we joke about hurricanes here,plan parties and such because we get more misses than hits but Erika is looking like she's not joking!

We've had many 'close calls' and 2 direct hits here in N.J. with Sandy being the worst and still fresh in my memory. Was a bit worried I'd find out just how mobile my mobile home was! Actually didn't fare too badly, inland got hit worse, imagine that! I'm less than 5 miles from the ocean here. We were without electricity for 8 days. Two days after we got it back, we got hit with a Nor'Easter! That storm took the cable out for 3 days! My 'little world' here in the trailer park was reasonably 'normal' damage wise and I did not want to go out of here to see the rest. My brain couldn't take it. I still hate wind!

I have family in Florida. Rest assured, I'm praying for all of you.

Also make sure you have your cars gased up and ready...as the price for fuel might go up, prices for gas jump very high here in Texas before the hurricanes...

It seems to be slowing speed and like Sandy has turned inland and looks like if it stays on course will head straight up the middle of the entire peninsula. The water is starting to show signs of the storm,waves picking up and the calmness is giving way to troubled waters and lots of debris washing up. As long as its slowing flooding will be our main concern and sandbag distribution started yesterday and continues through Monday night. I'm as ready as can be since they are not sure what this storms going to do once it hits land today before splitting around the Caribbean island. Got water,batteries,staples,charcoal for grill,extra animal and human food,cars gassed up,boats out of the water and in the pulley and that was as far as I was going with it!! Lol. Pools covered and batted down and all loose limbs and debris in the yards been moved from the proximity to the house. We have hurricane shutters of course this close to the water and I will close those probably late Sunday since it turns the house into a cave....


Everyone just pay attention and don't underestimate the power of any storm.

We are getting heavy rains and lots of lightening the past few hours. Many streets already flooded and even though I drained about 4 inches of water out the pool it's nearing the overflowing point and its only been raining since 8:30 PM now its 12:00?

It's good that it died down, but now you will still get plenty of heavy rain, with possible flooding...another storm is trying to form...let's keep hope no other storms (hurricanes) form...
