Fentanyl help

Are you taking hot baths or showers, sitting in an overly warm area?
The only time that I have ever had issues with the patches being inconsistent, was if I took a longer than normal or hotter than normal shower or bath.

I've been using the F patch for hhmm 4-5 years & experience the same. Personally I believe the patches given steady relief but my pain has always been inconsistent. And some days are still worse than others.
Seems no pain med helps much on those days, though they come around less often. And I rarely spend them in bed any more.

The normal starting dose for the patches for someone who has never been on them is to apply them every 72 hours. A good percentage of people end up needing them every 48 hours but not all, I can only assume your dr was anticipating that.

The medication is absorbed by your skin and is even being distributed up to 18 hours after a patch is removed, you may just be getting a little bit to much at once to adjust to quickly. When you remove that first patch at 48 hours you are still getting 25mcg per hour from that location in addition to starting to absorb from the second location. You could be a person with skin that absorbs and distributes quickly. You could talk to your dr to see if changing to every 72 hours to start may be helpful till you adjust.
