tramadol substitute

I had neck surgery in may and it has not helped. I cannot take Oxycodone. Lately tramadol has been giving me severe insomnia. alieve does nothing. Tylenol helps headaches only. does anyone know of a pain reliever that I can use instead or tramadol?

There is hydrocodone/acetaminophen combination (Norco, Lortab,Vicodin) Oxycodone and acetaminophen (Percocet) is stronger than Norco. Have you tried another generic in the
tramadol ? Some people react to the fillers and binders in the meds. The fillers and binders can vary from one manufacturer to another. You might want to ask your pharmacist for the detailed insert that comes with each bottle of medication from the manufacurer of your current generic and read it and ask for the insert from several other generics and read that. Or you can talk to your pharmacist. Some pharmacist will tell you that there is no difference, but there is. They use to call that insert, Physicians and Pharmacists Insert.

What were the "nerve" pills? I had broken C-3, graft, fusion, plate. Neurontin, etc did nothing helpful, just side effects. With things moved around, injections didn't work more than a few days. Since they didn't really help, ablation didn't work much either, although there was some benefit. The pain eventually became tolerable after a year or so.

I don't tolerate some muscle relaxants, others are just useless. pain meds - Norco (hydromorphone) and tramadol help the most. For me, as a non-reactor to morphine, oxycodone isn't any stronger than hydromorphone. There are very many other opioid derivatives, so you might ask to try another one.

Ablation (RFA) isn't really much worse than a steroid injection. A few people get scared, but it's really no big deal. Just make sure the doctor doing procedures on your neck is an anesthesiologist. Pharmacists and GPs don't know anything about this procedure. You can google videos.

Noratriptyline nerve pills has too many side affects. Gabapentin is useless.

Have you tried Lyrica? Have seen many have success with it, however, with the meds used to treat nerve pain all take time to get the person to the proper therapeutic level needed. These meds are not something you can take a week or two & decide if they are helping or not. Side effects usually are gone in a couple of weeks.

My new Pain Mgt Dr.gave me Norco and Neurotin my 1st visit.He said we'd talk about changing it my 2nd visit which is in a week.

I can't handle the Neurotin.I'm foggy all day from the pill the night before.

And the Norco is killing my stomach.I hope to God he charges me to an actual real pain med.

I've never asked a Dr. for any specific pain med.I let them treat me.I'm the patient.

I wish he would prescribe ms-contin and morphine IR.It was very effective when I was prescribed it for a year.
