I would not cross off gall bladder dysfunction as a possible culprit, even with an unremarkable HIDA scan.
Your family history of gall bladder and bile duct occlusion warrants further investigation of your gall bladder and pancreas and their tributary ducts.
In particular . . . I suggest that you investigate and read about
the sphincter of oddi and, in particular, sphincter of oddi spasms.
The sphincter of oddi is a valve at the distal end of the common bile duct. Spasms of the muscles that control the sphincter mimic the symptoms of gall bladder stones/sludge.
Sphincter of oddi spasms could well explain your on-going pain under your right ribs.
