There is some discussion of pillows in the Chronic Pain 101 Useful items after ACDF post-top of posts. I use a very soft, hardly even there pillow. Trial and error seems to be how everyone finds what works best.
For me massage by the PT is all I've had and that sounds really good right now! Since you are not having PT certainly check with your doctor before having a massage. There has been too much work in the neck to take a chance on messing it up. My doctor had me show a picture of my x-ray to the PT before starting treatment.
A warm rice bag feels good and helps to relax my neck and shoulders. It's just rice in a sock, tie a knot, then microwave it for a minute. OR freeze the bag and use it cold, whatever feels best for you.
