Thankyou for the replies.
Well I have been discharged from the care of my surgeon. The appointment was embarrassing and an utter waste of time. We went in and he gave a firm handshake on my poorly hand, told me off for pulling my hand away from the handshake, glanced at my hand, then forced it in to a straight position and told me to rub ibuprofen gel into it three times a day and then we were ushered to the door. I quickly asked about his comment during the operation about the damage to the tendon itself and he said yes but he had fixed it and showed us the door. My husband just looked at me in shock in the corridor. We figured it was because we were having NHS treatment in a private hospital so we were not as important as the fee payers! I am seeing my physio again in a few days so I will ask him what I am actually supposed to be doing while rubbing the wound. I rubbed it a bit to much the the other day and split one edge of it so it started bleeding again - it is no where near a fully healed wound yet just a line of scabs and a trough which my rubbing lotion gets stuck in! Since the tear I have just been rubbing around the edges and the lumpy tissue around the wound. All the videos on line have fully healed scars not still scabbed wounds!
Straightening my hand is still difficult but I am doing as ordered rubbing and stretching three times a day.
My GP seems to be fed up of my weekly appointments so I now have another three weeks on my sick note which will take me to around 6 weeks post surgery if I need it. I feel bad all the time about being off sick but while my hand is slowly improving, i am still not using my hand normally as I did pre surgery. I tried to used a knife and fork together the other day and I did not get even a quarter of the way through the meal before having to give up and use them both in my left hand.
