Hi all, my first post. I had trigger finger surgery on my right middle finger. I went to one of the supposed best hand surgeons in my area (suburb of NYC). A1 pulley was cut. After the surgery I followed the exercise instructions, and noticed about a week later that I still had a click in the finger. Read that this is possible post-op, so I dealt with it. Mentioned it to the surgeon on a follow up visit to have the stitches out, and he said "you're not triggering, there's no way". So I continued to exercise it as instructed. As the wound healed, the triggering continued. After another follow up, 6 weeks post surgery I asked him to feel the pop as I moved my finger, and he admitted it was triggering. Said it was probably happening at the A2 pulley. Which since the A1 was already cut, was now inoperable. So I may have to deal with this for the rest of my life.
I am so upset and angry about this. Saw him today and we discussed options. He gave me another cortisone injection, this time in the finger as opposed to others that were in the palm. He said that it may be possible to expose enough of the tendon that the nodule could be cut, but it has some risk. And would involve another surgery of course.
Not really sure what to do at this point. A relative suggested I see the best hand surgeon in Manhattan, who is a NYC-a-phile - thinks everything is better there! Not sure I agree, but it probably does warrant a second opinion I guess.
Again, not sure why I'm writing this other then to vent my frustrations, and see if anyone has any advice.
Thanks for listening...
