Pitmom:
Pituitary disorders are complex and complicated.
Nothing is ever as simple as "x causes this" or "y causes that." Your daughters symptoms will likely have multifactorial causes related to pituitary disruption.
I know because I have complete pituitary failure. The hormone replacement medications that I take are only panaceas. The hormone medications replace the essential, primary pituitary hormones but they do not address the hundreds (thousands?) of secondary hormones influenced by the pituitary gland.
Living with a pituitary disorder is an ongoing process of adapting and adjusting.
Above all, I implore your daughter to listen to her body and to trust what her body is telling her. Your daughter lives in her body and knows it best.
I am blessed with an endocrinologist who actively listens. She respects my opinions and fosters a collaborative relationship where I have a definite say in my course of treatment. Your daughter will be partnering with an endocrinologist for a long time. Make sure that your daughter finds an endocrinologist that she values and trusts.
The pituitary gland and its role affects the entire body. There is no organ or body system not influenced by the pituitary gland in some way.
She may want to explore options for a support forum - here at HealingWell or at MDJunction or FaceBook or Inspire.
Tell your daughter that I am supporting her from afar. Although I do not know her, I can appreciate her challenges and struggles.
Pitmom, I can appreciate your concerns for her, as a parent. My mother's concerns for my well-being has become part of the fabric of her life.
Take care, both of you,
- Karen -
