I believe this is me as my doctor placed me on Augmentin back in August for 7 days for an eye infection. According to my notes, 24 hours after taking it I had no back pain in the evening and late into the night for the first time in a quarter century. It didn't resolve due to the short course.

The method being used today involves a 90-100 day a course of Augmentin 3x daily.

I am more than half way home on this treatment. I will have completed this (100days) by the end of May.

I could not get a doctor (surgeon / drug dealer) to sanction this. The best they said is it could work. They were not willing to test for nor supervise this treatment. I was on my own. I had to order the pills from overseas which is legal for personal use as long as it is not a controlled medication.

Taking probiotics in yogurt daily has been essential to making it this far.

There was 1 day where I didn't need pain medication after the 6th week. There was pain but I lied down and it surprisingly went away in 15 minutes.

Granted this is just one day but considering it has been decades since my body has gotten a break from chronic pain, I will take it and I am hopeful.

It is postulated that modic type 2 is an advanced case of type 1.

No doctor told me about this treatment. I was thinking about my condition and searched "Back pain as infectious disease" and there it appeared and has been for the last four years.

Will it work for you?

I cant say, but the reason I suspected it would work for me is in my health diary I had recorded "No back pain late evening to night" 24 hours post Augmentin use for an eye infection back in June. After discovering the study I went back over my health notes and a light went off above my head.

Afterward I should improve over the year and will attempt to come off of all pain medication for good.

I use Kratom now for pain and came off 120 mg per day of Oxycontin without much discomfort.

I came off of Gabapentin too by reducing dose every 3 days and making a solution for the last few step downs.

Because I have a failed dental implant and now suspect this is how the P. Acnes got into my back in the first place, I frequently brush with, pull, rinse, and drink tea with Xylitol.

Xylitol is sugar alcohol with natural antibacterial properties. Its best to start with 1/4 tsp increments until well tolerated unless you are already constipated from pain meds in which case you could take a full tsp, just have a toilet nearby.

I pray that the creator of all good things has inspired me to post it when the right person(s) will find it. I hope someone who wants to come off pain medication and is willing to do whatever it takes, will read this and it will work for them.

I will follow up at the end of the 100 days and then again over the next year.
