Question about my SCS unit.

I am new to this forum or to any forum board for that mater. On Jan 27, 2017 I had the permanent Medtronic SCS Implant surgery and all went well. A week ago I had my teeth cleaned and they used an electromagnetic tool for descalling my teeth. I thought my device was turned off but am not sure now. I have started having my left leg lock up like I was holding an electrical wire. This happens upon standing from either a sitting or laying position. I am curious if anyone else has experienced this. My rep says the device will not cause this but something is.

I believe dental hygienists use ultrasound as the modality for professional cleaning of the teeth - not electromagnetic.

If you knee feels as though it is locking, you may have a derangement with a meniscus in the knee or arthritis in the knee - causing a change in the structural alignment of the knee and occasional "locking" of the joint.

The knee is an inherently unstable joint, as there is no bony stability as with the hip and its deep acetabulum. Weakness of the front thigh muscle, the quadriceps, will often show as intermittent "locking" of the knee because of forward/backward shifting of the tibia against the femur.

The spinal cord stimulator uses a low-voltage battery. It is not a high current unit. Overflow current to adjacent nerve roots can happen but is more frequently seen as an intermittent "buzzing-type" sensation rather than overflow current facilitating recruitment of a large muscle group en masse (such as the quadriceps muscle group controlling the knee).

I would think it unlikely that the cleaning of your teeth has affected the SCS as the root source of the experienced locking of your knee.
