I ts late pm.m. in Calif. I am having swallowing issues that may send me to ER . pill capsule loved in throat I can't cough up!! Waiting for it to dissolve but breathing is ;hard. UPDATE

Raew, I hope your throat cleared! When I lived alone, I learned how to do a heimlich maneuver using a chair back. It's one of my 'fears'...choking when no one is around to help.

First and foremost: Let us know if you are ok. It's super scary when anything happens with swallowing.

Is this the first time this has happened, or is it a regular occurrence?

I have swallowing issues due to an autoimmune disorder, but there's no need to go into detail right now.

Have you been diagnosed with any disorders or diseases? Any surgeries in that area? I've never had upper back or neck surgery, but many here have. I'm clueless, but could that be a problem?

Back to my initial statement-please check in and let us know that you are ok.

Thanks for all responses and info!! I don't know what got into me trying to swallow a pillow. Guess I wanted to see if anything had improved!! Pretty silly of me! Was little scary for while there. Seemed like forever for it to dissolve! Over 45 mins.. Learned my lesson.

So glad to read that you are ok. Would it help you to put pills in a spoon of apple sauce, yogurt or pudding? I would try giving this a thought.

I am post op about 9 weeks multi level Acdf surgery. Swallowing issues since surgery. Have had to crush oils and take them in applesauce.. I guess I wanted to see if I could swallow the capsule!! Won't do that again. See gastro doc soon.
