Hello, & I hope this message finds you in as little pain as possible. I have a question & would greatly appreciate any answer. I’ve been really upset about
this new development from my doctor today, which has led to my question.
For some background information, I began seeing an expensive direct family practice doctor 2 years ago. It was about
a $500 start up fee followed by a $90 fee every month. I felt trapped to go to him because many other practices discharged me 30 years ago because they were mad I was seeing another doctor in my college town 2 hours away for asthma. I never got controlled drugs from this college asthma doctor; they just said that I could not have another doctor.
Those practices still won’t see me 3O years later. So I found this concierge doctor. He was nice at first but I soon became uncomfortable with him. He hates pain meds & won’t prescribe them. He even claimed he wrote the rules in the DEA handbook regarding opioids. (After research & calls, I found out he didn’t.). I have bad endometriosis but thankfully the pain isn’t as bad now I’m in menopause. But I do have really severe trigeminal neuralgia, which causes severe pain. Of course this doctor didn’t treat the pain.
I also suffer from very severe diarrhea with painful cramping. I have had 8 surgeries for endo, where they saw that my gut was stuck together with adhesions. To treat the diarrhea, I take Lomotil. Imodium causes heart irregularities in me, even in tiny dosss.
I was enrolled in a clinical trial at the NIH for endo, & my doctor wrote a letter to my other doctors outside of NIH explaining why I need it. I showed it to this concierge doctor, & he agreed to prescribe it. Then a year later, he stopped. My diarrhea returned in full force. He refused to prescribe it as I got sicker. He made me feel like a drug addict.
This afternoon I broke down crying when he sent an email discharging me from the practice. All I did wrong was ask for Lomotil which he prescribed for me for a year. This is a doctor very cynical about
people taking pain meds. He thinks everyone who takes them is an addict.
I’d like to file a complaint against him through the Board of Medicine. Any suggestions on what I should write about
? Also any suggestions on finding another doctor?
Please know I appreciate your time. Thank you’!!
