Hi all, I'm new and this is my first post at healingwell so forgive any faux pas. I am a patient at the Madison Pain Clinic in Dallas, TX although I live in northern Wisconsin. I am finally receiving decent, effective, respectful and responsive pain treatment for intractable pain. I have 5, yes 5, acute vertebra fractures in my spine, severe stenosis, and deteriorating disc disease. I am getting shorter as my disks thin out, lost almost 3inches so far. I live in a sparsly populated area with limited choices and have been unable to find a Dr. that will prescribe high enough doses of opiod meds to keep me out of agony. Madison Clinic is required by the DEA to jump thru certain hoops to prescribe and send me my hydrocodone (10/325 Norco 150 count/month ). I do phone consults with their Doc which are brief and painless. It is all expensive and as true medical care it falls sadly short. I can and do receive excellent care from my Internal Medicine primary Doc, just can't get adequate pain relief because my pain level is very high, I'm on the 100 fentanyl patch but need about 20mgs. of hydro every three hours 24-7. They aren't all bad and the DEA makes them necessary for some of us. Tracimom
