Hello,
I had to add my 2 cents here, lol. When I was 28 yrs old I was put in the hospital with high blood pressure. I had not been feeling well but could not put a finger on it, other than having horrible headaches. My BP was so high my dr feared a stroke, this is why he put me in. They really had to work to get my BP down. Once they got the BP down of course the H/A went away. I am from the bad gene pool, high BP, high cholesterol, heart problems, the whole gambit. Its on both sides of my family. I was not even close to being over weight when dx'd with the high BP.
I fell bowling and spent a week in the hospital in traction and until they could get my pain under control, my blood pressure was off the scale. Pain can and will drive the BP up, even now, with my BP meds being doubled I am battling high BP. The first thing all my drs ask, is how my pain level is, has anything happened recently.
My husband is extremely over weight and has been many years. Guess what, he just got put on BP meds & cholesterol meds, for years he had no problems. So, that nurses comment about over weight people having high BP is BS. My husband shot that theory all to hell years ago. Even now, his numbers were not all that bad, it was more of a prevention type thing.
Don't kid yourself for one moment pain can cause your BP to be elevated.
