Breastfeeding with Crohn's

I am currently pregnant and taking Lialda, which I heard is safe while pregnant.  However, I heard it isn't good to breastfeed on this medication.  I was wondering if anyone knows of a medication for Crohn's that is okay to take while breastfeeding.

I used to take 4 tabs of Asacol 3 times a day.  Now, what a relief I take Lialda once a day in the morning (2 tabs) and it works so much better.  No flare ups.  Is there anyone out there that is taking Lialda?  I would recommend this med.

I am currently pregnant, too, and have been investigating breastfeeding. I got Dr. Hale's book from the library - Medications and Mother's Milk - and have discussed it with my OB, GI, and three pediatricians. All advised against breastfeeding on the medications I take, which are Asacol and Rowasa. Dr. Hale has proven that mesalamine is transferred via breast milk and there are babies who have negative reactions to it. So, I will be formula-feeding, as that is what I am most comfortable with.

As you do your research, you will find a ton of contradictory evidence. You just have to digest it all and decide what works best for you.
