crohn's disease

I haven't written in this column for almost a year--a very bad year both for Crohn's and my husband being diagnosed with uveal/corneal melanoma.  about 5 months ago, my MD put me on Questran (Prevalite) and it was like a miracle.  From that day on, I've had no Crohn's symptoms!  I've had perhaps four days with mild diarrhea which I traced back to what I ate, but now I can eat raw vegetables, popcorn, whatever I want in most cases!!  I don't know if this bile-binding medication will help any of you, but it might help someone!!!  It took me almost a month to get used to the fact that I wasn't having 8-10 stools a day!!!  I am still on Remicade but only because they tell me if I go off it, I may not be able to go back on it because I will have built up an immunity to it.  I was on Pentasa for years but now am off all my meds except for the Remicade and Prevalite.  Thank you to the Good Lord and bless all of you!  Sharon

I haven't heard of Questran, my GI has never mentioned this Rx to me but you better believe next time I see him I'm going to ask him about it, he wants me off of the Entocort and maybe this Rx would help. Does Prevalite control intestinal inflammation?

Thank you everyone for your replies--I  have only had Crohn's for half my life (I'm now 72) and it was always a mild case until they found cancer in a patch of inflammation when I had a colonoscopy and after the bowel resection, of course, it got ugly along with fissures, cramps, etc.  But  I really feel like a wuss sometimes when I hear other people's stories--like all of yours!  Nonetheless, it's a horrible disease and I hope and pray that you all find some relief like I did!  Let me know!!  A better and happier New Year to all of you!
