I am only 26 yrs old. I have been dealing with spouts of diarrhea and constant blood in my BM's along with fatigue, joint pain & nausea. I was referred to a GI. After waking up from my colonoscopy he tells me he is certain it is UC & starts me on Asacol. At my follow up appointment he said the biopsy was clean. He orders more blood work. I here nothing and seemed to be better. 2 months later I am back on the diarrhea kick and all the same old symptoms. I call & tell the nurse I am in extreme pain. She asks he if my treatment for CD is not helping. It was the first I had heard of the CD diagnosis. I get a copy of the Serology 7, saying CD Predicted. I call back and have a fit. Another nurse tells me not to worry I don't have Crohns and schedules me for a follow up in a week. Do I have Crohn's or not?

Somebody give me advise.

Well no one here can tell you if you have Crohn's or not, but it's a bit odd that they diagnosed you with UC, then said you had Crohn's, then nothing. Bottom line, you need a second opinion elsewhere.

My main question is wether or not the serology 7 is accurate?

Again, that's a question that only a physician can answer for you. Typically, a blood test is not the primary source for diagnosing Crohn's; the colonoscopy/endoscopy and the biopsies from those tests are.

I would speak DIRECTLY to the doctor,and I would definately agree with a second opinion.

Welcome,I as well agree that you need a secound opinion as well.it's your life your body and you have a right to know what is going on with it.let us know how you are doing.

I understand it has a 92 % accuracy rate but I agree get a second opinion..........when they start confusing you then you need someone else to evaluate the whole situation.

I don't want to scare you but if you are new to all this, it is common to go back and forth with diarrhea and pain unless you can find a medication which works for you, UC or Crohn's. Many of us have tried many medications/combos and still have trouble. This is something you are going to be dealing with now regardless of if it is Crohn's or UC. I would tell the doctor at your next appointment you were told UC and then Crohns and see what they say. Have you changed your diet and are you taking any rectal medications?
