Remicade Question..

I start my remicade infusions next wednesday and I have two questions. The first was about how long does each infusion lasts. And did any of yall have any physical reactions to it? like did you feel bad afterwards and whatnot.

The time, for me, depending upon where I had it done. When done at the hospital, I was there no less than 8 hours. It was ridiculous and frustrating.

When at my doc office, I usually was there 4-5 hours. The drip only took 2.5-3 hours. They took it a lot slower my first infusion, though.

I reacted after 2.5 years on the drug, but had no side effects or anything before that. And I did not take premeds until I had a problem (I refused them).

When I reacted, my heart rate went up, I turned bright red, and I had difficult breathing. We slowed it way down, took some Benadryl, and resumed it.

im not on it anymore as it no longer is beneficial to me but when i was on it it was a 1 hour prep, waiting for the meds getting the benedryl ( and in my case the steroid injection) and then a 3 hour drip. When i first went on it in college i developed a staph infection after about 4 infusions so they took me off (which sucked b/c it did make me feel better) just last year they decided to try me again, unfortunately it didnt work :O( so now its humira for me, had my first injection about a week ago, waiting to see how this does me
