I am a male, diagnosed about a year and a half ago.  Ever since I've been on Pentasa (4g/day) I've noticed that if I take a piss in the toilet and have some urine splash up onto the toilet bowl, if I let it sit there for about a day or two it turns brownish or almost like a burgundy color.  If not cleaned up after a while it can stain the porcelain.  Do any other males experience this in their bathrooms?

Actually, this isn't a male issue. It's a Pentasa issue. There have been previous posts on here about this problem. For some reason, the Pentasa has that effect on urine and/or BM. I had to buy a new toilet seat because the stains got so bad!

This is not only limited to pentasa, it's seems to be a mesalamine issue. I take Asacol and the same thing happens. I keep Clorox wipes at the ready. They take off the stains and keep things from getting permanant.

Yes Asacol has cost me to replace my toilet seat every 6 months it looks so bad from stains. I only will use my master bath toilet .

That's good to know.  Thanks for the responses.  I'm gonna go to the store now and get some Clorox wipes!

I often find that urine is the color of my latest pills-bright yellow right now.
