pre-meds b4 remicade

what kind of meds do they give you before remicade? and is it pills or shots, and how do they tell if you need meds before a treatment?

It's been a while since I had Remicade, but I was given two Extra Strength Tylenol along with two Benadryl. These were given in pill form. Later as I developed some side effects, the Benadryl was given to me in the I.V. At the time, I believe they gave these two medications to everyone just as a precaution.

I take 10mg of Zyrtec the day before, the day of and the day after treatment. I also take 2 Tylenols with the treatment.

I always get two tylenol pills when I get there, and then I get Benadryl through the IV right before the treatment actually starts.

I always get 2 xtra strength tylenol and 2 benedryl and sometimes they will give me steroids also.They always ask if i premedicated and if i didn't then they give me some at the office.

I get 2 extra strenght tylenol pills, 25mg of benadryl through IV, Solumedrol through IV, and Zyrtec the day before

I take a tylenol and benedryl 30 minutes before the infusion.

I get 80 mg of solumedrol, and 100 mg of benadryl, it helps.

I up my pred to 40 mg a week before, and do 60 mg the day before, day of, and day after my infusion, then taper back to my normal dose over 2 weeks. I take 2 Tylenol, a Claritin, 2 Benadryl, and 150 mg of Zantac about a half hour beforehand. If I have a reaction (hives, tightening in my chest, difficulty breathing), I get IV Benadryl and Solumedrol. :)

I take 2 tylenol and 2 benadryl 30 mins before infusion. Then once they get my IV in, I get solu-cortef in the IV. After that I wait 20 mins before they start the remicade. I never did any of this when I first started taking remicade. But since I have started/stopped and now restarted they want to take precaution incase I have built up any anitbodies. It's not that big of a deal, plus kinda makes me drowsy so I can relax during the 3 hours of sitting. GOOD LUCK!

I don't take a thing. just show up get checked out, get stuck, get infused, & get to go home. its that easy for me.

when i really need meds is two weeks leading up to the CADE. my feet & ankles hurt so bad i have trouble walking. i don't remember my joints hurting like this before i started the CADE.

makes me wonder if i am trading one problem for another.
