Crohn's psoriasis

I've had Crohn's diseases for about 14 years.  I've had deep cracks break out on the ends of my fingers for several years.  This past year I started getting deep cracks breaking out on the soles of my feet.  I never associated it with Crohn's disease until I remembered hearing that sores in your nose could be related to Crohns.  I looked it up on the internet and found out there is a Crohn's psoriasis.  I just recently went to a dermatologist and he confirmed my suspicions.  I would have never expected it to be related to Crohns disease.  I just wanted to share this with others, just in case someone else has this problem.  I've been on the medicine for about a week now and have finally seen some improvement.

I had psoriasis way before I was diagnosed with Crohn's..although most of the time I keep it pretty much under control. While I was recovering from my resection surgery in July I realized that I had these 2 nasty spots on my legs and a couple really small spots on my arms that would not go away. At my first infusion of Remicade (I was on, then off and then back on after resection) the nurses and a dr were talking about how dermatology patients were now going to be eligible for remicade. So I asked questions and found out that remicade works for psoriasis too!! Now that I've been back on it for several months, my spots are gone!! YAY!! I say for the money I (well ok my insurance pays) pay for Remicade, it should work for more than just one thing! Just thought I would share that info !

The medication the dermotologist put me on is soriatane (acigtretin) 25mg. I've only been on it for one week. This first week was painful because I guess it was finishing breaking out, but now it is starting to look better. The doctor said it will take about a month to start looking normal again.
