my GI is backing me for my disability!

I just wanted to thank you all for helping give me the strength to ask my GI how he felt about me going on disability. He called me back today and he is supporting me 100% and said he will give any notes needed to help me out. I am so beyond grateful and happy that I have the support of all my doctors to go through with this! And even better, I have you all here supporting me through it. Thanks again!

Hope, I am so glad you got brave and made that call, you are the one to stand up and take a bow.  Now the hard work is ahead, all those forms but I have great faith in you. Keep on posting as we are here to support you.

I really hope you have success with the disability. I was very sick for 2 years when I filed and had the support of all the doctors that had treated me over that 2 year period...but I was still denied the first time. You have to prove that you can not do ANY job..not just the one that are currently at. You also have to prove that you have been unable to do the job you are at for a year...at least in Ohio where I live that is the case. I had been working off and on during that year...more off than on, but there were days when I could still work so I wasn't completely disabled. Hopefully this doesn't crush your spirits..but I wanted you to be ready for the possible outcomes. If you are denied, REFILE or APPEAL! Make sure you keep copies of everything you submitted because they will ask you the same things over and over. And if you are denied, you can resubmit the exact stuff from the first time. GOOD LUCK!

Here you don't have to have been disabled for a year just likely to be disabled for not less then six months-so you could have a heart attack on MOnday and qualify for disability that day if your doctors say you will not be able to work for six months. (here is VA)

I am not on disability, but one tip I have heard over and over again, is to get a lawyer to help you with the process. Good Luck!

Actually I am dating a lawyer so I get the good advice :) and the support from him! I am lucky, but I can't have him represent me which kind of sucks.
My interview with SS is on Monday! Prof I really appreciate the help and I will be mailing you as this goes on for help, thank you so much! I go to the PCP tomorrow to get all that info together and to get my yearly PPD for the remicade. I will keep you posted!

I did my interview over the phone. that was suggested to me... why.. because we may "look" healthy. Didn't want any judgements to be made. Remember to answer any question relating to your Cd as it is the WORST day even if you feel good. And. always bring it back to the Cd. For example if they ask can you go to the food store.. why yes BUT... need to know where the BR's are.. may need to leave if I think I am having an accident etc.
I found myslef thinking.. geez.. life is really bad all the time! LOL The first interview is basic. A know someone in CT who got it the first try! I am in NY.. took 2 denials and a judge. I did get an attorney after the first denial... one who specialized in SSD.

Yeah I have a phone interview also. Thanks for the advice, I always know where to use the bathroom along the way! If I get denied I will definitely involve a lawyer and try again. A lot of people say they will deny you a few times before you get accepted. I have been writing a list of all the things I am going through so I don't leave anything out. And I will be sure to loop it all back to my CD ;) That is probably the best advice I didn't think about that! I hope the interview goes well. I know in person I would have less of a chance because I am not all swollen anymore and "look" healthy to people. I probably look pregnant **** because I am always rubbing my belly where it hurts and it is still bloated out.
