WBC get how high with prednisone?

I had some blood work done recently & my WBC & neutrophils were high. I was just getting done with taking prednisone for a few days & was told this would affect the results. How much can it make the WBC rise? My WBC have doubled what they were a few months ago.

Mine was 8 before & now it's 15.2. I am waiting to hear the results of my latest labs. They wanted to check it again....

Anyone else get theirs to go up that high?

I know it's not THAT high. Just nearly double what it was before. I had a severe kidney infection in June & my WBC count was only 17.2, even with a kidney infection!

Must just be the prednisone then. I was on 20 mg, and when I had the blood draw, I was weaning off (I only took it for 7 days). I am sure the new labs will show a reduced WBC count... I thought I would hear on the results today, but I guess I have to wait until tomorrow!

My WBC count went up to 24 while on pred. That's why it's so important to let all concerned know that you are taking them...

I got my ER labs back & those were 2 days after this lab with elevated WBC was taken. Protein & Albumin were normal (even though I was VERY dehydrated & had to have IV!!?! They were way off 2 days before. It's really weird.) The WBC were high, but not as high as 2 days before, so I am sure it was just the Prednisone. My potassium was low. Sodium was right on the line of being low (137 - bottom without being abnormal). CPK (not sure what this is) was low, but I guess that's good. It was <20 & it should be 30-135. MCH was high. Not sure what that is either.

Everything seems okay, though, I guess. This sinus infection is not clearing up though. Grrr.....

I am still having the high WBC and I am not on prednisone, my GI yesterday said it was due to the IBD. So at least I don't have to worry about leukemia or anything like that....
