TWO autoimmune diseases?

Does anyone on this board have ANOTHER autoimmune disease on top of the Crohn's? 

I'm curious because I think I may also have Rhumatoid Arthritis but haven't been Dx with that.  Curious if you can even HAVE 2 at one time...I guess you can?!

It's quite common to have more than one, infact it's probably more rare to only have one...I have eczema as well as crohns.

And yes, you can certainly have more than one affecting you at the same time.

I have Lupus Anti-Coagulant plus Endo but it isn't an auto disease and my 20 yr old son has Rhumatoid Arthritis

only just been dx with Crohn's 16/1/08 still getting my head around it

I agree that it is probably more unique to have only one. I have RA as well.

I have thryoid autoimmune disease (high level of Thyroid antibodies in my blood)

For those of you who also have RA associated with Crohn's, how does it present itself in you?

my H also has myasthenia gravis as well as crohns.

Could not walk without feeling like I was breaking bones. But that could have been the serum sickness or lupus...

Once you have one autoimmune disease, you are at higher risk for developing another. I am so sorry to hear you may have the RA too.

I dont have an autoimmune disease, but I have a couple other diseases. I have hereditary Spherocytosis, which is a hemolytic anemia that you are born with, GERD, Ovarian Cysts, Some arthritis deal or joint stuff, allergies, asthma...and the list goes on. I am sorry you have RA...feel better!

Songstress, LOL, me too! I have arthritis, (sponylosis and osteo) and possibly psoratic because I have psoriasis. Also have hypothyroid. Currently on humira and weaning entocort, and considering SCD diet soon.

In addition to the other autoimmune diseases, I have Scleritis of the Eye.

I have ankylosing spondylitis and asthma as well as CD.

RA presents with intermittent fevers, morning stiffness lasting more than one hour, red inflamed joints, gell phenomonon (if you are in one place for a while like in a car than when you first move your joints open very slowly like they w ere full of gell) fatuque. Not everyone has all of the syymptoms nor do you have them all the time.

I think it's more rare to only have 1 AI disease. Read signature to see what I've got.   ;)

I have CD and ITP (a bleeding disorder). Not the best combination!

Guys, some of these things you mention are caused by CD, Anklyosing Spondylitis is thought of as an IBD related illness.
Anyway, as every old timer here knows I have CD & its tripple D**beep!** arthritis. Which is very, very similar to RA but moves from joint to joint. (what fun we've had).
I also have Osteo. (discovered last august). Imagine my joy.
1 illness **IS** the exception for us I fear.

I was told by my many speclists that sooner or later if you have one you'll have another .It seems this is a never ending thing you never know what tomorrow will bring so live today the best you can.

I was recently diagnosed with Crohns as a result of a routine colonoscopy after the age of 50, my son and daughter are both Type I diabetics, my daughter's thyroid failed at age 7, and my brother has rhematoid arthritis.  We are one autoimmune deprived family!!!
