I am severly allergic to latex, humira has latex encasing the needles on the pen and the syringes are capped in latex. Humira told me directly that the pen was the safest way to go the MDs agreed to try it well each time i noticed something like a headache, stuffy nose soreness in my throat figureing that everyone knew what they were talking about I kept trying a month ago an hour after giving the shot it became very har to breath i took benadryl.I can say one thing my Internest said before i started that the more you have contact with the more you become more sensitive to it which i agreed. but i was desperate to get better and would have tried anything at that point. I too have a Latex alergy as when I contacted Abbott, the company that makes the Humira, they basically said to stop taking it which I could not do. Even the pen has latex in it, but I premedicate with both Benadryl and Hydroxine as the Benadryl hardly works for me anymore.

As a nurse, I find it very strange that in the hospital everyhting is just about latex free, even the syringes we use, so I can't understand why Humira has to come packaged with Latex. Someday someone womewhere will make a change for us. Good Luck.
