Remicade and weight gain!!! Need info

A few months back, someone had posted an article about Remicade and weight gain.  I need a copy of it so I can take it with me to my son's next GI appt.  Please help if you can!!!

I don't know about the article, but I've been on Remicade about 1 year now, and haven't had any weight gain.

I have been on Remicade for about six months now and definitely have not gained any weight. The only medication that I have been on that makes me gain weight is prednisone!

i was on cade for almost 2 years and i had no weight gain from that. just the prednisone like everyone else.

"Unexplained weight gain in patients with Crohn's disease who are treated with infliximab remains a mystery, according to investigators in a small study reported here..."

 

They sited one small clinical study, and further compared other records from 92 Crohn's patients and 51 rheumatoid arthritis patients who were being treated with Remicade.

 

"...Overall, the patients with Crohn's disease gained almost five times as much weight as the arthritis patients (4.97 kg versus 1.1 kg, P=0.0049). Some Crohn's patients gained as much as 20 to 30 kg, Brown reported. "

Hmmm...I wonder if some of that is because the remicade relieves some chron's symptoms so people eat more or absorb more of what they eat.

I gained a few pounds after I first started because I felt so much better and was eating more! : ) I started exercising again though and I lost it again! Since then I haven't had any weight gain with the Remicade.

  My son is doing wonderful!!  He has been on REmicade for 2 1/2 years now.  His last treatment was on Jan 2 and he weighed in at 107lbs.  Well they upped his dose and as of today he is weighing in at about 115lbs.  He started out at 63lbs. He is extremely active and eats well.(Healthy) I just wanted to show his GI the article, because he said there wasn't any correlation and we think there is.

I've only been on "the cade" for 3 weeks now. I can already notice some increase in appetite and was excited about the possibility of gaining some weight. Unfortunately, nothing yet. I remain hopeful though. I figure after 15 years of active disease, my gut has some healing to do before I will start experiencing any absorption.
